Less than 50% of developers claim this responsibility, supporting the idea that the role of software developers extends beyond writing code. As organizations move security, testing, governance, and even marketing and finance early in the application lifecycle, developers are overwhelmed by continuing to shrink their delivery timelines, and data quality is “correct” to the development team. Often it remains “hope”. Among other important discoveries, the biggest problem facing development teams is the inconsistency in the data they need to utilize, followed by incomplete and outdated/incorrect data. Duplicate data, last year’s top option, fell to fourth place this year. Incorrect field data and international character sets conclude the category. Due to these data issues, survey respondents said they spend about 10 hours a week building new applications and addressing data quality issues.
